Scholarship Information

Our annually offered scholarships are now in their 55th year. The purpose of these is not only the monetary benefits it will give some of the participants, but also to give young musicians the opportunity to perform works they are studying to professional adjudicators who will give them a critique to assist them. This happens in a fairly informal way, so that the act of performing gives confidence and a will to continue and improve.

In the Finals, the students play to a friendly audience in a professional venue and once again receive a critique and are able to talk to the adjudicators after the event. They hear other young musicians, create friendships, and most importantly give pleasure to all through performing great music.

“It is good to have an end to journey toward; but it is the journey that matters, in the end.” – Ernest Hemingway
